About Our Cover Art

One of the core values of Jonah's Call is creative worship. In that vein, we have been working with a bunch of folks to come up with some art for the church service bulletin that we will use beginning on April 20th. Josh and I just finished it yesterday and we are very happy with the results. We combined photos of Pittsburgh’s skyline with stain glass and gothic arches found throughout Church of the Ascension to create the art. The juxtaposition of the skyline of Pittsburgh with the interior of the Church powerfully expresses who we are; a Church that reaches out to the city and invites the city to come in. Some interesting components of the art are the combination of the arches and the stain glass from the back of the church (we saturated it so that one color would be dominant and would compliment the grey stone of the piece. Also, the city skyline has been colorized along with a sky for the background. Overall, the theology here is that we beleive that we are to be missional and attractional- inviting others from the city in and going out from here into the city.
